Wood Vase

I like working on the mayflower wood; it’s not very hard so it’s easy to shape. On my way to Pondy cherry I found this wood in the heap of firewood at a roadside restaurant. Picked it up, made this vase.

Karuvellam wood is difficult to turn compared to many other I’ve worked with. But the colour and the shine is unmatched with any other. That’s why it’s ok to endure all the hardship in turning it.

Wood Fruit Bowl

We had a huge mango tree in front of our house. One day it just got uprooted during a rainstorm. That tree had been in the front yard for over 25 years. Stored some of it. Now we have fruits on bowls, flowers on vase, and many other beautiful products to remember our mango tree.

Wood Vase

Again joining of 2 type of wood glued together. Kongu wood is not as bright in yellow like the manja kadambu. But kadambu is rare and very expensive. For this vase the kongu colour suited well.

Wood Vase

Mango wood is soft and easy to turn. I wanted to gift a vase to my friend on his wedding. Mango wood was all i could find. Turned to a simple free flow shape. Didn’t take much time. But the colour and the grain pattern made me happy.

Wood Vase

Suddenly i wanted to do a vase with 2 different types of wood stuck together. Selected two plain contrasting colours. Both Padauk and Manja kadambu don’t have much pattern, but they have rich colour.
